HOW CAN WE USE NEW TECHNOLOGIES TO EXPLORE THE UNIVERSE?

This VR experience demonstrates how light and matter orbit a black hole. A black hole is a region of space from which nothing can escape, not even light; it is called "black" because it absorbs all the light that hits it, reflecting nothing.

ABOUT

This work was created by PhD students Philip Lynch and Josh Mathews, under the supervision of Research Fellow Dr Niels Warburton. They are part of the UCD Relativity group, who use Einstein’s theory of general relativity to investigate the extreme gravity of black holes and the emission of gravitational waves.
